LINDSAY JOHNSTONE
I am an Apparel Designer holding a First Class Honours degree in BA (Hons) Fashion Design and Technology from Manchester Metropolitan University. With 8+ years of industry experience, I specialise in Activewear, Outerwear and Lifestyle garments and currently work as a Freelance Designer based in Manchester.
Born and raised in the UK, one of my biggest inspirations for design comes from British subcultures. I love how the music and attitudes are rooted so deep into the clothing they wore. I find it fascinating seeing how the different subcultures merge between one another and even more so to see the clashes. In every angle you look at it theres always such a sense of community and passion.
Art and design have always played a huge role in my life, some of my first memories involve spending hours on paint drawing clothes and cutting up my mums bed sheets to make a skirt. In the last 10 years I’ve fell in love with portrait drawing, I love how you can capture depth and emotion, it feels so personal and yet so delicate. I’m a huge believer in the outlook that everything is art.
